Mooring supply
Senol handles large offshore projects from management and supply chain to interfacing with certification authorities. He loves finding solutions and wants to personally supervise all the steps in the project, to make sure everything goes as planned. The story of how a somewhat idealistic idea turned into a reality. Pre-lay operation
At the port of Leixoes, Portugal, childhood memories resurface. Hélène Butat, Bourbon Subsea’s Operation Manager, feels at home again. After a long period of preparations and engineering, the mooring lines of the WindFloat Atlantic Floating Turbines are being installed. Floater preparation
At the port of Ferrol, Tiago Godinho, Operation Manager at Principle Power, is working with the rest of the team on preparing the floater for offshore installation. For Tiago it is very gratifying to see WindFloat Atlantic project come into reality as he has been working with WindFloat® technology for a long time and feels personally vested in the success of the project.

Hook-up operation
The different pieces of the puzzle are coming together in this final episode to complete the installation of the windfarm. The hook-up operation has had to face new challenges, which have been successfully overcome by the professional and committed installation team.

Responsible for the project management, procurement and engineering of the WindFloat Atlantic installation at sea, Bourbon Subsea Services provided all marine assets and necessary personnel for the offshore operations. Bourbon positions itself today as the European leader in the installation of offshore floating wind turbines.
In addition to providing its patented WindFloat® technology solution, Principle Power was responsible for the full engineering and certification of the platform. It actively supported fabrication, installation and commissioning of the 3 units and will be responsible for Operations and Maintenance of the windfarm.

WindFloat Atlantic, the first floating offshore wind farm in continental Europe, with the total installed capacity of 25MW, is located in the north of Portugal, 20km off the coast of Viana do Castelo. Composed of 3 units, the windfarm will be able to generate enough energy to supply the equivalent of 60,000 users each year. The project features 8.4MW turbine of MHI Vestas, the largest turbines ever to be installed on a floating foundation.
